Birding on Robberg

Birding on RobbergRobberg is a really great birding destination, and you only have to walk on the level path from the car park to the top of the first descent. The fynbos there has at least four pairs of Orange-breasted Sunbirds, who always sit up close for you to look at their magnificent colours.

Listen for Cape Siskins; Cape and Golden-breasted Buntings; Neddicky; Southern Tchagra and Cape Rock Thrush.

Southern Right Whales arrive in Plett

Southern Right Whales arrive in PlettIt’s official – the Southern Right Whales have arrived in ‪‎Plett‬!

Ocean Blue Adventures reports that the first southern right whales have been sighted in Plett just off Robberg. These magnificent animals swim from their feeding grounds in Antarctic waters to their breeding grounds off southern Africa every year.

Plettenberg Bay is one of the bays they use during their breeding, so we can expect that this is the first of many Southern Right Whales for this season. Just in time for ‪‎WorldOceansDay ‬on 8 June.

Follow #plettwhalewatch on Facebook for updates on whale sightings in Plett.
